Super Falcons striker Gift Monday has completed a transfer to Major League Soccer side Washington Spirit. The Nigerian forward has signed a three year deal, with an option for an extra year, after leaving Spanish Liga F team UD Tenerife.

Speaking to the club’s official site, the 23 year old expressed excitement about this new chapter. "I am excited to join the Washington Spirit family as I have long wanted to play for the club," Monday said. "I can’t wait to start living the dream with the Spirit!"

Washington Spirit’s head coach Jonathan Giraldez also shared his delight at her arrival. "Gift has unique qualities as a forward and will add a new layer to our attacking third," he commented. "We’re thrilled to welcome her to the team shortly."

During her time with UD Tenerife, Monday played in more than 65 matches and contributed 26 goals. Before moving to Spain, she made her mark in the Nigerian Women’s Football League, featuring for FC Robo, COD United Amazons, and Bayelsa Queens.
